The WPC was founded in 2013 as a cooperative effort by The Federation of European Photographers (FEP) and Professional Photographers of America (PPA), and it is now supported also by the Australian Institute of professional Photographers (AIPP) and the United Asian Professional  Photography (UAPP). Its singular goal is to unite photographers in a spirit of friendship and cooperation.

Each country can only be represented by one team, which is created by a national association comprised of professional photographers. Each team picks its own photographers and images to enter, and is entitled to nominate a judge.

Teams submit up to three images in each of six categories: Portrait, Wedding, Commercial (including advertising, architecture, industrial, fashion), Illustrative/Digital art, Reportage/Photojournalistic and Nature (Landscape/Wildlife).  Teams may choose to enter the images of a single photographer in multiple categories. However, no single photographer may have multiple images entered into a single category.

on the way for Yokohama 2017!

The World Photographic Cup governing committee and our proud sponsors ChromaLuxe, KoyLab, Comet, Hokushin and PhotoCreate are looking forward to celebrate the winners of the 4th World Photographic Cup, the one of a kind Olympics-styled global competition, and give appointment to Yokohama, Japan, on February 23, 2017!
The WPC 2017 award ceremony will announce individual winners in the 6 categories and the Cup winning Team!  The event will be realized in cooperation with the PPJ, Professional Photographers of Japan association.
In the present edition, we tied the best ever number of participating countries, with 26 national photographic teams entered, from 4 continents (15 from Europe, 6 from Asia and Middle East, 3 from North America and 2 from Oceania). The first two edition of the WPC have been both won by Team USA. In the last edition Portugal won the Cup, with Russia and Slovakia in the second and third place. Individual gold medals for the six professional categories (commercial, illustrative, nature, photo journalism, portrait and wedding)  went to Finland, Slovakia, Spain, Mexico, Russia and Portugal. Also appears in the medals table: Austria, USA, Australia, Czech Republic and China!
Which country will take over the top spot from team Portugal,  the defending champion?
Team Portugal and other European teams on the podium will have to face the challenge coming for across the oceans (with Asian

countries at the forefront). The most talented photographers proudly representing their country will compete for individual gold, silver and bronze medals while the national teams as a whole, based on the highest aggregate score in each category, will compete for receiving the WORLD PHOTOGRAPHIC CUP 2017.
Registrations to the present edition of  the WPC just closed and all entries have been validated by the WPC Governing Committee.
The judging is on the way, and it will close at the end of November.
The 22 international judges are from: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, France, Finland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, Pakistan, Philippines, Portugal, Russia, Singapore, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom and United States of America.

Welcome to Yokohama!

At long last the first Asian WPC (World Photographic Cup) will be held in Japan in Yokohama. First of all, I consider it a true honor that this great and glorious event in which we communicate through photographs is to be held in Japan, and extend a heartfelt welcome to you all.
The WPC is a deeply meaningful event in which international exchange takes place through photographs.
One can sense strongly in the works which are brought together from across the world how they reflect the differences in the environment and culture of their respective countries. However, at the WPC we appraise each other regardless of these differences. I think this is a wonderful thing.
This time will be the fourth WPC. I am absolutely delighted that each year the number of participating countries has been increasing, and that it continues to grow in size.
Yokohama, the site of this current WPC, is a city which is deeply connected with our country’s photographic culture. Around 160

years ago, the “black ship” (the frigate USS Susquehanna) docked at the nearby harbor of Uraga, and since then western culture flourished in Yokohama more than anywhere else in Japan. The vestiges of this history can still be seen here and there in the city, giving it a beautiful landscape. Furthermore, the father of Japanese photograph, Renjo Shimooka, opened a photography studio in Yokohama in 1862.
Please do come to Yokohama! Let’s have a wonderful time together.
